Tony Peluso’s fuzz-guitar solo MAKES this song, it’s what everything else in the song leads up 2 — even tho Karen Carpenter’s vocals R her usual cool greatness & the lyrics R fine. I was so impressed that my 13-yr-old self actually BOUGHT this single after previously thinking almost everything else the Carpenters had done was garbage. Now I think “Rainy Days and Mondays,” “Hurting Each Other,” “For All We Know” & this R all prime early-’70s melodrama, all great stuff!
